Privacy Policy

How we handle your information.

Last updated July 2026 · Subject to revision without prior notice.

The Centre for Public Interest (CPI) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. CPI is an independent, non-partisan public-policy think tank, and we handle personal information with the same integrity and transparency that guide our research and public work.

Information We Collect

We only collect information that you choose to share with us. This typically happens when you join CPI as a Volunteer, Research Associate, Fellow or Campus Ambassador; subscribe to our newsletter; register for an event; or contact us through a form. The information may include your name, email address, phone number, area of interest and any message you send. We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data, and we never ask for payment-card details through this website.

How We Use Your Information

Information you provide is used solely for the purpose for which it was given — for example, to respond to an enquiry, process a volunteer or fellowship application, send you research updates you requested, or confirm your participation in an event. We may also use aggregated, non-identifying data to understand how our publications and programmes are reaching the communities of Jammu & Kashmir.

Sharing & Disclosure

CPI does not sell, rent or trade your personal information to any third party. We share information only where it is strictly necessary to deliver a service you have requested, or where we are required to do so by applicable law. Our volunteers and team members are expected to treat any personal information they handle with confidentiality and care.

Cookies & Analytics

This website may use basic cookies and analytics tools to keep the site secure and to help us understand which research and programmes are most useful to readers. These tools collect non-identifying technical information, such as the pages visited and the type of device used. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; some features of the site may then work differently.

Data Security & Retention

We take reasonable organisational and technical measures to protect the information entrusted to us against loss, misuse or unauthorised access. We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required to meet our legal and record-keeping obligations.

Your Rights

You may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to remove it from our records. To unsubscribe from updates, use the link in any email we send or write to us directly. We will respond to genuine requests promptly and in line with good practice.

Children's Privacy

This website is intended for a general adult audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
